bee diseases. This includes training of beekeepers in beediseases and teaching beekeeping
advisors and students. Furthermore, I have experience in research in beekeeping and the
influence of pesticides on honeybees. In connection with the teaching I have developed
education materials and authored three text books. One of the books has been published in
multiple languages.
My research experience centres around control of bee diseases and
pollination, research management and planning. In 1984, I developed a new method for
diagnosing American Foulbrood from honey. The method is international recognized and is
used in control programs in many countries.
My field of competence covers all aspects of beekeeping including

Research
I have participated in a joint project with Camilla

of AFB, and testing larval tolerance of different bee strains to AFB. The experiments were
conducted in both laboratory setups and in apiaries on isolated Danish islands.
Management in the following projects:
- The national research program for control of the varroa mite (financed by EU)
- Bumblebees as pollinators in plant production (financed by Strukturdirektoratet)
Research participation in the following projects:
- The Polar Bee Project, research area: Honeybee pollination of plants in Greenland
(financed by Velux Fonden)
- Concerted actions concerning control of the varroa mite (financed by NKJ and EU)
- Apiculture in Koryak Autonomous Okrug, Kamchatka (Siberia) in cooperation with ScanAgri
